The Astronaut Wives Club by Lily Koppel

The Astronaut Wives ClubThe Astronaut Wives Club by Lily Koppel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A very open and honest look at the other half of America's early space program. One of the few books that translated well on to screen and worth reading after you've seen the tv show. There are not many secrets kept as you peek inside the marital and home workings of the women who supported the men who shaped modern history. From loss to victory, heartache to joy, the moments huddling together to listen and watch their husbands create some of the most amazing moments of our collective soul....

But as much as they tried to keep the image of perfect space age family going strong the cracks form and their humanity shows through. Drinking, adultery, divorce....all the things that we don't expect from these strong and amazing women when we see what others have to say about them. They came together as a force to support each other and to be reckoned with in their own way.

A seldom thought about part of American history told with honesty and respect, smooth narrative that makes the wive's personalities show through.
