Life of the Party: The Remarkable Story of How Brownie Wise Built, and Lost, a Tupperware Party Empire by Bob KealingMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Learn the story of the little known woman behind the marketing success of Tupperware.
From the early days of Tupperware until her sudden firing Brownie Wise was the head marketer and sole reason for the company's sucess. A divorcee who gave up almost all she had to gamble on the sucess of Tupperware, Wise created a marketing empire under the eye of Tupper, making him a mainstay name of homes everywhere for generations to come. Unfortunately, Tupper's paranoia and personal dislike of Brownie led him towards a falling out with Wise and did his utmost to erase her memory from his company's legacy. Happily, however, history pushed on and many years later Brownie is making her name again.
A fascinating tho sometimes slow going biography about an unlikely upstart that reads well and is full of honest, interesting personal history. Kealing took a wonderful concept and life then made it approachable. Very well done.
