As Good As Gone By Amy Gentry

Good as GoneGood as Gone by Amy Gentry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

read this book, read this book, READ THIS BOOK!

A young girl watches stunned as her sister is abducted in the night, unable to do anything to stop the heartbreak that's going to follow. 8 years later the disappeared teen returns, but is she actually who she says she is? Or is this just another game?

Full of twists and turns, Good as Gone is Amy Gentry's first foray in to fiction as far as I've been able to find, and makes a grand entrance with this gem. While I would like to have had more of a depth to other protagonists the focus on the returned Julie and the abducted girl's mother was well placed. The pacing was perfect, the narrative was brutally honest and styled but choppy enough at places to disorient the reader at times. Rather than frustrating me like it normally would it actually helped to push the feeling of being unsettled and drew me in to the twisting plotlines. There were twists as you try to find out who's lying and piece together the mystery of the family. The ending was a bit too cut and dry for me after such roller-coaster up and downs but it still left me satisfied enough not to hate the conclusion.

I don't usually read much fiction outside of classics but Good As Gone has put the itch in my skin to read some more.
